Purpose: The SDMS Foundation Sonography Student Scholarship Program provides a $2,500 scholarship to a deserving sonography student who has been accepted or is currently enrolled in an educational program in diagnostic medical sonography or cardiovascular technology that has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP). Two (2) sonography student scholarships will be awarded each year. Scholarships can be used for tuition, books, or educational fees. 

Application deadlines: There are two application deadlines each year for this scholarship. One $2,500 scholarship is awarded each cycle (for educational expenses to be incurred in the 12 months following this scholarship deadline):
  1. June 30
  2. December 31
Instructions: To be considered for the SDMS Foundation Sonography Student Scholarship, please fill in the requested information as completely and accurately as possible. Be sure to upload the required attachments. It is your responsibility to ensure the application is completed fully — failure to follow instructions (including Essay Question Requirements), failure to fully complete the application, or failure to attach all required documents will disqualify your application.

Proof of current enrollment from the educational program is required. Acceptable documents include: 1) A formal letter of program acceptance or continued enrollment on college/school letterhead (copied/pasted emails are not valid) signed and dated by an authorized representative within the past three months 2) PDF of an official transcript from the institution showing enrollment in the next academic term in an acceptable program from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education 3) Scanned SDMS student membership application verification form showing program name, expected graduation date, and program director signature within the past three months.

Notification: Notification regarding whether you have been awarded the scholarship will occur approximately 60 days after the application deadline. All applicants will be notified via email once the scholarship has been awarded.

Eligibility: You must be a current individual SDMS member at: 1) the time of application, 2) award notification, and 3) scholarship payment.
